As State Representative, Kennedy is committed to making sure our schools have the resources they need to ensure our children can compete in the 21st century global economy, helping businesses provide health care benefits to their employees, fighting to help lower the cost of prescription drugs, working to preserve our natural resources and fighting to stop companies from bringing out-of-state and Canadian trash to Michigan. Kennedy is sponsor of legislation to stand up for Michigan residents who have been damaged by dangerous prescription drugs by repealing a state law that gives drug companies complete immunity when their products harm or kill. She also sponsors legislation to encourage the state and businesses to buy American-made products and a bill to ban the use of a hazardous, toxic chemical used as a flame retardant in certain electronics and upholstery.
Kennedy, who was senior sales director for Mary Kay cosmetics, began her career for the company as an independent consultant 30 years ago. She also formerly served as an Executive Director for a non-profit agency that offered direct human services including a 24 hour crisis telephone hotline, senior transportation, parent aides, Toys for Tots and much more. Kennedy served as Trustee on the Woodhaven-Brownstown Board of Education and continues to serve on their education foundation board of directors. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from
Representative Kennedy is an active member of the Wyandotte First Presbyterian Church, having served on the church’s governing body, and as chair of its strategic planning task force.
